Is shipping free?
Free Standard Parcel Post via Australia Post
We now offer free standard Australia Post parcel post. You'll know exactly how much you need to pay for an order before you check-out.
​How does free delivery work?
Free Delivery in the Greater Bunbury Area
I live in Bunbury WA and will happily delivery to your door if you live in the Greater Bunbury Area. Free delivery is determined when you enter your address details to your order. A free delivery button will appear.  I will get in touch and work out a delivery time that suites us both.

​Can you provide urgent priority shipping?
Yes, we can. We offer a flat fee Australia Post express parcel service for $4.00

After you have added your address details to your order, you will be given the choice of free standard or $4.00 express Australia Post. Just choose express delivery and we will do the rest. 
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we do.

We use Australia Post for deliveries to the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA, and New Zealand.

We are happy to ship to any destination and can provide you with a quote for shipping before you commit to buying. Please email us.
​Can you provide a tax invoice?
Yes, when you complete your order, you will have the option to print an invoice straight away.

Please note we are not registered for Australian GST.  Our Tax invoice will clearly state this in addition to providing our business registration details.
What is your refund policy?
Items that are faulty, unsafe or do not match their description will be refunded or exchanged if accompanied by proof of purchase.

We are also happy to provide a refund where the items are returned 60 days from purchase if in unused original condition with proof of purchase.

To contact us regarding a return or cancel an order, please email or phone us.
Can I get a refund on a secondhand books?
​Yes, we will refund your purchase of any secondhand book as long as it is in the same condition that it indicated in the photos and description on our website.
How do you determine the condition of your secondhand books?
We use the Independent Online Booksellers Association and Abebooks used book condition descriptions.
Are my payment details including credit card information secure?
Yes we are McAfee secure certified. That means our site has been thoroughly checked for malware, viruses, phishing attacks, and other malicious activities. Your payment details are safe.

​Payment safety is really important to both your and our peace of mind. That's why we chose two of the biggest players in the online payment industry
- Square and PayPal. Both meet Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards.

Our e-commerce solution is Ecwid.  Ecwid is a PCI DSS validated Level 1 Service Provider. This is the highest international standard for secure data exchanges for online stores and payment systems.

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act), The Book Merchant is considered a small business and does not technically have to comply with the Act. That doesn't matter to us because we embrace the Australian Privacy Principles and will take every care with your personal information:

  1. We will not disclose or sell your contact details to a third party such as a marketing company.
  2. What information we keep for regulatory purposes, we keep very secure at our premises.
  3. We may use your contact details to update you on new book titles. If you tell us to stop contacting you, we will.

Our online payment providers PayPal and Square are legally required to comply with the Privacy Act. More information is available on PayPal and Square's websites. 
Is The Book Merchant an Australian Registered Business?
The Book Merchant is a business name owned by sole trader Miriam Mortimore. Its ABN is 28 641 583 174.
Do you have a cooling off period?
Yes we do. ​If you change your mind and no longer wish to purchase a book/s we offer a 24 hour cooling off period in which you may cancel your order.
